World Skating Federation

The World Skating Federation's Mission and Objects are quoted from our Constitution:

Mission

The World Skating Federation (WSF) is an athlete-focused international sport organization with the purpose of governing and promoting Figure Skating throughout the world by ensuring its integrity and establishing friendly and loyal cooperation among Members for the benefit of the athletes by promoting peace and understanding between nations. The WSF does not approve of interference in the sport of Figure Skating based on political or any other grounds and will make every effort to avoid such interference. The WSF shall ensure that the interests of all Members are observed and respected.

La World Skating Federation (Fédération Mondiale de Patinage) est une organisation sportive internationale centrée sur les athlêtes, dont l'object est de diriger et promouvoir le patinage artistique au plan mondial, en assurant son intégrité et en établissant une coopération amicale et loyale entre ses Membres dans l'intérêt des athlêtes, en promouvant la paix et la compéhension entre les nations. La WSF désapprouve les interférences dans le patinage artistique s'exerçant sur des bases politiques ou autres, et fera tous ses efforts pour éviter ces interférences. La WSF s'assurera que les intérêts de tous ses Membres sont pris en compte et respectés.

Objects

The objects of the WSF shall be:

  1. to provide uniform rules for supervising and conducting the WSF Championships, any other WSF Event specified in the General Rules which is a Figure Skating competition, and International Competitions;

  2. to organise WSF Events;

  3. to ensure that all WSF Events and International Competitions are held under, and in accordance with, the Rules;

  4. to ensure that no racial, religious, political or other kind of discrimination be allowed in Figure Skating and to take all practicable measures to stop such discrimination;

  5. to organise meetings of Officials and other interested persons in connection with WSF Events;

  6. to prepare and distribute all forms of educational and other material for the purpose of the sport; and

  7. to promote and protect all rights relating to WSF activities, logos, trade marks, trade names, WSF Events names, and copyrights throughout the world.

In furtherance of the foregoing, the WSF will seek (and, when obtained, retain) designation by the IOC as the international sport federation authorised by the IOC to conduct and manage such competitions at the Olympic Winter Games (or other international competitions held by the IOC or under its auspices) as are part of Figure Skating. As a means for implementing the objectives of the WSF, the WSF (acting through the Congress, the Council, the Technical Committees, the Ethics Committee, the Disciplinary Committee, the Appeals Commission, and/or Office Holders and Officials, all as specified in this Constitution) shall adopt, promulgate and enforce the General Rules, the Technical Rules, the Code of Ethics, the Code of Conduct, and the Rules of Procedure of the Appeals Commission.
