Ted Clarke Regains Eligibility |
|
By Ron Pfenning, WSF Acting President
The USFSA Board of Directors voted to reinstate Ted Clarke's eligibility, effective May 9, 2004, at their board meeting of October 31 - November 1, 2003, according to minutes published on the USFSA web site.
The WSF thanks all those who made the effort to contact USFSA Board Members on Ted's behalf. Your support of Ted, and voicing your displeasure with the action taken to make him ineligible in May 2003, contributed to this final outcome.
I remain personally troubled that a man with such high integrity and commitment to the sport, and to the USFSA, was sanctioned in the first place for speaking out on important issues facing the sport of figure skating today.
The WSF congratulates Ted on his long and distinguished career of service to the sport of figure skating, and we hope and anticipate his continued involvement and vision will guide our sport into the future.
Several individuals who participated in the letter-writing campaign to urge the USFSA to reinstate Ted Clarke have given us permission to republish their letters; read them here.
